WINE DESCRIPTIONS AND PRICES
2008 Estate Chardonnay
James Halliday rating: 94 points
This ‘top of the range’ delicious wine is a light straw colour in the glass. It has an elusive fine fruit bouquet with a tantalising hint of white peach and lime. Long and smooth, in the mouth it is creamy, full bodied and crisp with subtle layers of lingering soft citrus on the finish. An exceptional wine which continues the tradition of excellence established by our one acre of chardonnay since the first vintage in 1997. $32 per bottle
2008 Estate Cabernet Merlot
Predominantly Cabernet, this beautifully balanced blend is achieved by sitting the Cabernet on the skins of the Merlot. The ripe plum and velvety middle palate character of the Merlot is softly integrated with the complex dark berry, spice, pepper and long finish of the Cabernet. A ‘young wine’ of immense character, it is drinking exceptionally well now, but its beautiful nose, deep colour and clean finish suggest it will be a monster in 5 to 10 years. $26 per bottle
2006 Estate Pinot Noir
James Halliday Rating: 94 Points
Our signature wine, this exceptional and well-known Pinot is now, sadly, sold out. The new vintage is in production and will be available at the cellar door 2012. With just 65 cases produced by our small Pinot planting, secure your orders early to avoid disappointment (orders now being taken). $58 per bottle
2006 Estate Merlot
James Halliday Rating: 88 Points
A medium-bodied and delicious wine, this Merlot is an appealing soft cherry red in the glass with a complex aromatic nose carrying hints of spice, plum and blackcurrant. The palate is silky smooth showing black fruits and cherry liquorice followed by fine firm tannins. An exceptional cool climate Merlot, it has good bottle age and is drinking very well now, but may be cellared for at least another 5 years. $24 per bottle
2005 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Dense ruby red with purple hues, the nose is intense with classic Cabernet aromas of blackberry, cassis and dark chocolate. On the palate it is soft yet strong with delicious dark fruit flavours combined with fine grained tannins, balanced acidity and a long, long finish. An exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, this 2005 vintage may be aged for several more years for even greater enjoyment. $26 per bottle
2007 Summerland Chardonnay
Made from Chardonnay grapes from the Dalyston/Woolamai area of Gippsland, this tightly structured wine shows classic varietal fruit and citrus aromas. And older style of Chardonnay, the palate is well balanced, with mouth filling acidity, and butterscotch, pinenut and crisp fruit flavours. A classy, flavoursome Chardonnay for those who like a fuller flavour and texture. $18 per bottle
2005 The Nobbies Pinot Noir
Made from hand-harvested Pinot Noir grapes from Berrys Creek near Leongatha, this scrumptuous Pinot wine is in a traditional ‘earthy’ style. Now at its best, the 2005 The Nobbies is a complex Pinot with a satisfying ‘European dark chocolate’ edge to the middle palate and lingering overtones of strawberry, raspberry and spice. Perfect for duck, venison and game foods, it has held its colour magnificently and is exceptional buying at this price. $17 per bottle
2006 Pyramid Rock Shiraz
Shiraz grapes sourced from Moe South in Gippsland and the Yarra Valley has produced this garnet red, medium-bodied wine. The palate is soft, with red berry fruit flavours followed by a long soft finish of mouth-coating tannin. A well-balanced lighter-style Shiraz, it can comfortably be slightly chilled for refreshing summer drinking. $20 per bottle
2006 Berry’s Beach Cabernet Sauvignon
James Halliday Rating: 88 Points
An appealing full-flavoured and nicely balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a complex nose of dark plum and black currant and in the mouth is classic spicy cabernet with a dry lightly-textured satisfying finish. $16 per bottle
